We’re still early in our journey, but the Heart Forest is already making a measurable difference.
So far, the trees we’ve supported are responsible for:
🌿 1,778 kg of CO₂ already sequestered—the equivalent of 7.2 hours of flying
🌿 Over 1,000,000 litres of water retained in the soil
🌿 Support for multiple farming households

The long‑term impact is extraordinary:
- One tree can absorb ~240kg of CO₂ over its lifetime—about the emissions from driving 1,000 km (that’s equivalent to 120,000 litres of CO₂ gas absorbed and transformed into oxygen)
- 100 trees can offset as much CO₂ as the average household generates in a year—around 12 million litres of CO₂ gas.
- A single mature tree can retain 1,371 litres of water every year, preventing erosion and enriching the soil.
- Regenerating 60 trees directly impacts a household of approx. 5.6 people, improving crop yield, income, resilience, and long‑term stability.

Our partner Treebytree in conjunction with Justdiggit uses an approach called Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR)—a powerful method that revives trees already hidden underground. It’s like discovering buried treasure and giving it sunlight, space, and care. These regenerated trees then cool the land, bring back biodiversity, and help local communities thrive.
With healthier soil, better water retention, and revived ecosystems, farmers see real transformation—often within a single season. Families gain food security, stable income, and resilience against drought. Knowledge spreads from farmer to farmer, sparking a ripple effect that transforms entire landscapes.
